Beginner ASL

Thursday, October 57:00—8:00 PMAssembly Room

Did you know that American Sign Language is the fourth most used language in the United States? And ASL Academy is here at the library giving us an introduction to ASL! This four week course is designed for adult & teen beginners, with a focus on vocabulary and smooth sign production. This will include learning the four parameters of a sign – handshape, palm position, location, and movement. Students will learn a range of signing vocabulary including fingerspelling, numbers, colors,  and some basic verbs and nouns, emotions, family, professions, and foods. You'll also learn a little bit about Deaf culture and the singing community that once existed on Martha's Vineyard.

By registering for the first class, you are registering for all 4 weeks. Questions? Email Lauren at lpfendner@minlib.net.
