Better Through Books: Exploring the History of Race Amity Documentary & Discussion

Thursday, March 187:00—8:30 PMOnline

Join us for a screening of An American Story: Race Amity and the Other Tradition, the documentary recently featured on WGBH that focuses on the lens of "amity/collaboration/access and equity” with regards to race in America. William H. Smith, Ed.D., the creator and executive producer/co-producer/co-writer of the powerful Race Amity documentary series, will frame the context for the film and then lead a discussion/Q&A after the film.

William H. Smith is also the founding Executive Director of the National Center for Race Amity (NCRA) located in Boston, MA. The NCRA was founded on the principle that this “other tradition” in American history - one of close collaboration, amity, and love - has served as the moral and spiritual counterweight to the dominant tradition of racism that occupies so much of our national history. The other tradition offers a new entry point for the public discourse on race. Race Amity is the mission of the actions and object of the work at the National Center for Race Amity.
