Better Through Books: Processing the Pandemic and Building Resiliency Panel Discussion

Monday, April 267:00—8:00 PMOnline

The past year has been marked by anxiety, loss, isolation, and fear as we grappled with a global health crisis, with systemic racism, and closer to home – with the violent death of a Belmont resident.  This panel, featuring Matt Bennett, Beth Chin, and moderated by Lisa Gibalerio, will explore the following:

•    How do we process this trauma?  For ourselves and with our children.

•    How do we instill resiliency while acknowledging all that is transpiring?

Matt Bennett, MBA, MA, has a master’s degree in community psychology and executive development (nonprofit management), as well as a master’s in business administration in health care.  Mr. Bennett specializes in the delivery of trauma-informed care, quality improvement, results-based leadership, and Motivational Interviewing.

Beth Chin is a LICSW and one of the Vice Presidents at Wayside Youth and Family Support Network.  Beth has been at Wayside for 25 years providing therapeutic services to children and families, including residential treatment, in-home community- based services, mobile crisis, and care coordination.  In addition to her role at Wayside, Beth is adjunct professor for Boston College School of Social Work.

Lisa Gibalerio, MPH, is a Prevention Specialist with Wayside Youth and Family Support Network in Watertown.  She is a trained public health educator and oversees the Belmont Wellness Coalition (BWC), administrating the five-year Drug Free Community grant which funds the BWC and directly impacts the youth of Belmont and their families.  She is also an Instructor for the Youth Mental Health First Aid training.
