Graphics Programing with Python: An Introduction

Tuesday, June 66:30—8:30 PMOnline

In this two-part series (meeting virtually on 6/6 and 6/13), we will examine many working examples of Python’s tkinter graphics module widgets including Frame, Label, Button, Entry, Text, Menu and Canvas. We will take short looks at Canvas drawing items, including line, oval, and rectangle and investigate a simple working text database program, comparing a Graphical User Interface (GUI) version versus the terminal-based version. Program files are provided which YOU and I will run to demonstrate these plus other graphics features. For this interactive, two session course series geared towards adults, a personal laptop will be required, as well as the ability to install Python on said laptop. Some limited Python programming experience is expected; for those that have taken Ray's other classes, this is an extension of the 7-week series.

As an alumnus of Massachusetts Institute of Technology, Ray has a background in programming that has spanned the professional world from MIT and GenRad to IBM and eDial/Alcatel-Lucent and is interested in expanding individual understanding of how coding informs the world in which we live.
