Page of Enlightenment History Book Club
Wednesday, August 77:00—8:00 PMOnline
We all know the adage, "those that fail to learn from history are doomed to repeat it.” Don't be a victim - instead join librarians Lauren Pfendner and Chris Tremblay for an engrossing read of historical nonfiction every month. August's selection is Midnight's Furies: The Deadly Legacy of India's Partition by Nisid Hajari. An NPR Best Book of 2015, the New York Times Book Review described Hajari's work as “[a] fast-moving and highly readable account of the violence that accompanied that partition…In its finest moments, Midnight's Furies is the story of what happens when a composite society comes apart.”
This book club for adults & teens will be held online through Zoom. Copies of the book are available across from the Circulation Desk at the Library's temporary location in the Beech Street Center (266 Beech St.)
