Thursday, September 127:00—8:00 PMOnline

We all know the adage, "those that fail to learn from history are doomed to repeat it.” Don't be a victim - instead join librarians Lauren Pfendner and Chris Tremblay for an engrossing read of historical nonfiction every month. September's selection is The King of Confidence: A Tale of Utopian Dreamers, Frontier Schemers, True Believers, False Prophets, and the Murder of an American Monarch by Miles Harvey. A New York Times Book Review Editors’ Choice, The King of Confidence was described by the NYT Book Review as follows: "Harvey’s wonderfully digressive narrative is interspersed with news clippings, playbills, land surveys, and daguerreotypes, as if to periodically certify that all of this madness is really true... Rather than a biography of a single man, he offers a vivid portrait of the time and place in which a character like Strang could thrive.”

This book club for adults & teens will be held online through Zoom. Copies of the book are available across from the Circulation Desk at the Library's temporary location in the Beech Street Center (266 Beech St.)
