Thursday, January 97:00—8:00 PMOnline

We all know the adage, "those that fail to learn from history are doomed to repeat it.” Don't be a victim - instead join librarians Lauren Pfendner and Chris Tremblay for an engrossing read of historical nonfiction every month. January's selection is American Midnight: The Great War, a Violent Peace, and Democracy's Forgotten Crisis by Adam Hochschild. A national bestseller and a New York Times, Washington Post and New Yorker "Best Books of 2022" selection, American Midnight is "a harrowing portrait of America in 1917–21, rife with racist violence, xenophobia and political repression abetted by the federal government. The book serves as a cautionary tale and a provocative counterpoint to our own era.” (New York Times Book Review, Editors' Choice)

This book club for adults & teens will be held online through Zoom. Copies of the book will be available across from the Circulation Desk at the Library's temporary location in the Beech Street Center (266 Beech St.)
