We all know the adage, "those that fail to learn from history are doomed to repeat it.” Don't be a victim - instead join librarians Lauren Pfendner and Chris Tremblay for an engrossing read of historical nonfiction every month. September's selection is Destiny of the Republic by Candice Millard. A New York Times Notable Book in 2011 and winner of the 2012 PEN award for Research Nonfiction, the New York Times describes Destiny of the Republic as "fascinating... gripping... stunning....has a much bigger scope than the events surrounding Garfield’s slow, lingering death. It is the haunting tale of how a man who never meant to seek the presidency found himself swept into the White House. . . . Ms. Millard shows the Garfield legacy to be much more important than most of her readers knew it to be."

This book club for adults & teens will be held online through Zoom. Register to receive the link to join. Copies of the book will be available for pickup at the library. Questions? Email Chris Tremblay at ctremblay@minlib.net.
