Reduced Fare Sign Up Event with the MBTA Mobility Center

The MBTA Mobility Center will be at Belmont Public Library on April 16th from 9:00am to 12:30pm to help community members apply for Income-Eligible Reduced Fares (IERF) and Senior CharlieCards! The IERF and Senior CharlieCard provide a 50% discount on all MBTA services, including the Commuter Rail and RIDE paratransit.

Anyone age 65 or older can apply for the Senior CharlieCard. To apply for the Senior CharlieCard, you will need to bring any form of government-issued photo ID with your date of birth.

Anyone age 18-64 who receives benefits from the Commonwealth of Massachusetts (examples below) can apply for the IERF. To apply for the IERF, you will need to bring either:

A valid Massachusetts ID or driver's license

OR

Another form of government-issued photo ID with your date of birth AND a copy of a benefits verification letter from the last three months

  • MASSGrant
  • MassHealth CarePlus
  • MassHealth Family Assistance
  • MassHealth Limited
  • MassHealth Standard
  • Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP)
  • Transitional Aid to Families with Dependent Children (TAFDC)
