Virtual Author Talk: Erica Armstrong Dunbar REGISTRATION REQUIRED

Wednesday, February 227:00—8:00 PMOnline

We are excited to welcome writer, historian, and lecturer Erica Armstrong Dunbar for this virtual presentation! She is the author of Never Caught: The Washingtons' Relentless Pursuit of Their Runaway Slave, Ona Judge (National Book Award finalist) and She Came to Slay: The Life and Times of Harriet Tubman, as well as pieces in the New York Times and Philadelphia Inquirer, and appears in documentaries such as PBS's The Abolitionists.

In this event, she will focus on Harriet Tubman, "a heroine whose fearlessness and activism still resonate today. Not only did Tubman help liberate hundreds of slaves, she was the first woman to lead an armed expedition during the Civil War, worked as a spy for the Union Army, was a fierce suffragist, and was an advocate for the aged. She Came to Slay reveals the many complexities and varied accomplishments of one of our nation’s true heroes and offers an accessible and modern interpretation of Tubman’s life that is both informative and engaging" (from the publisher). Erica will particularly highlight Tubman's Boston connections for our local audience.

Registration is required. Please fill out the form here to sign up. Zoom access details will be sent in a reminder email prior to the program.

This program is sponsored by Belmont Public Library, Belmont Human Rights Commission, Belmont Against Racism, Network for Social Justice, and the public libraries of Chelmsford, Danvers, Franklin, Groton, Hopkinton, and Wellesley.
