All members of the community are welcome to participate, but advance registration helps us prepare sufficient arts and crafts materials for all participants. Happy Year of the Horse! Chinese New Year is the most important traditional holiday in China and around the world — a time for family reunion, renewal, and celebration. This year, we’re bringing the festive spirit to Belmont Public Library!
Do you know the story of the monster “Nian”?
Why do people decorate with red and set off firecrackers?
What do fish and dumplings symbolize at the New Year’s Eve dinner?
Join us for stories, crafts, and calligraphy as we explore the traditions and joy of Chinese New Year together!

🎵 Music & Movement Game: Enjoy fun Chinese New Year–themed music and interactive games
🌸 Floral Workshop: Design and decorate your own tabletop flower display with sticks, clay, Chinese-themed ornaments, and more.
🍲 Reunion Dinner Art Studio: Design and bring to life your own festive reunion dinner, featuring symbolic dishes representing happiness, good fortune, abundance, prosperity, etc.
✍️ Calligraphy: Take home the character “Fu” (Good Fortune)
🧧 Red Envelope: Discover the tradition of red envelopes and receive special ones for good luck
